Parker Cracking Griffin Up!

Parker & Griffin have turned into be pretty good playmates! Griffin adores his big brother & wants to be wherever he is & do whatever he's doing! I love watching them play together! Last week I took this video of them playing & Parker just happened to be cracking Griffin up!

Another month....another photoshoot!

And this one might be my favorite yet!!

( I know I say that everytime)

So my little stinker is 11 months old & will be turning the big ONE in just a month!! I can't believe it!

Parker spent the day at his Grandma Claudy's today, so Griffin & I went out for some pictures before it got too hot out!! We made a few stops around town & then ended our shoot at the park.

I don't know which is my favorite...I kinda like them all!!

p.s. He started taking his first few steps on July 4th weekend, but just in the last few days has finally about mastered the walking thing! I will post a video soon!!

Parker's 4th Birthday

So I am waaaay behind on blog posts!!

Just now getting around to posting pics from Parker's Birthday parties!

We decided to have two seperate parties this year given the fact that we don't have a ton of space for entertaining. The first party was on Parker's actual birthday. We just had family over for a cook-out & had cake & ice cream. Parker actually started running 102 fever the afternoon before the party, so that is why he looks a little less than enthused in the pic below...

You can tell just by looking at his eyes that he didn't feel good...

But, he did perk up a bit when he found this in the backyard!

We decided to get him a bicycle this year! He had been eyeing this Spiderman bike at Walmart for a while now. His Great Grandma Doris got him the matching Spiderman helmet & bell for his new ride...

He had it figured it out in no time!

I actually had a video of him riding it, but for whatever reason I can't get it to upload to this here blog...frustrating!!

Ahem...Moving on...

On the Saturday after his actual birthday, we had a party with all of his friends from church...

I decided to do cupcakes for this party instead of getting another big cake...

I found some Spiderman confetti at Party City and made some cute little cupcake toppers with toothpicks...

I also used the confetti to make little tags for the goody bags...

My once calm & inviting breakfast nook was all Spidied out for this event...

We borrowed a family member's inflatable waterslide for the kids to play on to keep cool...

And just for fun, I also found some Spiderman tatoos at Party City for the boys' goody bags! I thought it would make for a cute pic...

I was trying to get them all to flex their muscles & give me their best "tough guy" face, but they were too busy laughing...

All in all I would say his 4th Birthday was a success!

Griffin is 10 Months Old!!

Time is just flying by & as much as I just finished one birthday celebration (more pics of that to come), it won't be long & I will be celebrating another!! Griffin turned 10 months this past Sunday & is quickly approaching the 1 year mark!! Guess I better start thinking about his birthday party, huh?!

We were at his grandparents house just a week or so ago to swim and I snapped some cute pics of him while he was taking a break from the pool! Enjoy!!

My sister was in town for Parker's birthday this last week & because I am obsessed with my camera right now (and always looking for an opportunity to get some practice in) I asked her if it would be okay if I took some pictures of her while she was here visiting...

She immediately answered with a " Heck Yes!!" She never got to have senior pictures done when she was in high school & kept referring to them as the senior pictures she never had! LOL!!

We took advantage of this beautiful day & headed to the train depot in Carbondale this afternoon. It was a win, win either way you looked at it! Parker got to climb & explore the trains & momma got to play with her camera! And I may or may not have bribed him with an ice cream treat from the Dairy Queen when we got done. LOL...whatever works, right?

I've been practicing taken pics on my camera in manual mode...it was ~~kinda~~ VERY confusing at first, but I think maybe I am getting the hang of it!

Turns out the best place for photo opportunities in our house is right in front of our sliding glass

door in the kitchen about mid afternoon...

The lighting is just perfect!!!

I {LOVE} how it reflects off his pretty little eyes...

And that smile is pretty cute too!!

My baby turned 9 months old last week...

We had a little photo shoot to celebrate...

WARNING: Lots of photos ahead!!!

We started out in our flowerbed on the arbor bench....

And had some fun with the clematis!

So sweet!

I couldn't decide whether to post color or black & white so your getting both!! LOL!!

Too cute to make that decision!!

The lighting was good in Parker's room so we took a few in there as well...

He loves bubby's room!!

Loss of a Loved One & Happy Anniversary

Hope you all had a great weekend!

I've been away from blogland for a few days...

My hubby's grandma passed this last Monday & we had to travel up north for the funeral this weekend!

Grandma Ione had been sick for awhile & her passing was kind of expected, but nonetheless it was a difficult weekend for my husband's family. She was a wonderful woman with a kind heart & a beautiful spirit!

She really had a rough time for the last couple of years....

She underwent numerous surgeries and has been in & out of the hopsital more times than we can count, but she is now in a place where there is no more pain.... no more suffering!

I know she has now reunited with her husband, Don, and her daughter, Vicki, who passed more than 30 years ago....what a wonderful time they must be having!!

For that....we celebrate!!

And we thank God for the wonderful gift of eternal life that he has given us through his son Jesus Christ! We find comfort in knowing that our loss is His gain & in Heaven she lives on!

On a lighter note...

My hubby & I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary yesterday!

It's hard to believe we've been married six years already!!

I just wanted to take time out to tell him how thankful I am that God has placed him in my life! He is a wonderful husband & father and he works so hard to provide for our family!

This past August when our second son was born, he made it possible for me to become a stay-at-home mommy and leave my career as a nurse. For that... I am forever grateful!! Being at home with my children is all I've ever wanted and without my husband's hardwork, it would have never been possible!!

Bobby, you are my best friend & I love you with all my heart!!

Happy Anniversary Babe!!

Parker had his end of the year program with his pre-K class tonight (more pics & video to come) and I wanted to get some pictures of him before hand looking all handsome & stuff!!

I seriously can't believe that his first year of pre-K is already over & my little boy will be 4 here in just a couple weeks!! CRAZY!!

I've learned that if I wanna get a cute smile from his & not one of those fake goofy smiles that I have to play games with him while we are taking a pictures...make him laugh & then hurry up & snap the photo!

Hey...whatever works right?!?

It really does make a huge difference!

Seriously, I don't think I've ever gotten this many good pictures of him all at once!

His pre-K program was cute...they sang a couple of songs for all of us, walked up and got their certificates of attendance one by one & shook their teachers' hands, and then we all went to the cafeteria

for cake & punch afterwards.

Its cute now by the time he gets to the 5th grade I know I am gonna be sick of these little programs...

They get to be pretty boring, but for now...its still cute!!

I will be back in a couple of days with more pics & hopefully a video or two!!

Griffin has really gotten the hang of clapping the last few days....

I decided to take a video of him tonight while we were eating dinner because he kept doing it & he looks so happy while he does it too!! Pretty darn cute if you ask me!!

These are just some pics I took of the boys on Mother's Day that I thought turned out pretty cute!! I edited them on picnik & used the "cross process" effect to give them a little bit different look! I think I kinda like it!!We had a great day mother's day at home with family! The boys played in the yard & we grilled out for dinner! It was perfect evening!

Parker took advantage of the warm weather & played in the sprinkler...

He had a ball & it wore him out!!

He definitely slept well that night!!

Griffin is 8 Months & A Day at the Park...

My little stinker turned 8 months old on April 19th...

Boyfriend is on the move!!!

Not only is he crawling everywhere, but he is also pulling up on anything & everything he can find!!

Which means we had to lower the matress in the crib so that he can't launch himself over the rail!!!

SCARY!!!

Let's hope that solves the problem!!

Some other Griffin stats...

He still just has the two teeth on bottom.

He is wearing 9 month clothing.

He started say da-da this past Monday.

And today I am pretty sure I heard him say bub-bub (parker).

He sleeps through the night (most nights).

He is eating fruits & veggies twice a day.

Drinking about 26-30 oz of formula a day.

He LOVES puffs & McDonalds french fries :)

(don't worry I only let him eat a couple!)

And for the most part...he is a pretty happy little boy!!

Today we had a play day at the park & of course

I brought my camera! Griffin is really easy to photograph

because he pretty much stays put....

This was his first experience on the swings...I think they were a hit!!

That growling noise is new too, but don't worry...

it means he's HAPPY!

Parker on the other hand is way too busy playing

to have his picture taken!!

I did, however, manage to snap a few...

This one arm behind the head thing is beyond me...

I think this is his super model pose!! Strutting his

stuff on the catwalk!

LOL!

And getting a good pic of both of the two of them together....

You might as well forget it...

Hope you all had a fantastic Easter!! We had a wonderful day!!

The Easter Bunny brought the kids their baskets full of all kinds of goodies...

These bunny glasses...MY FAVORITE!!

We had all kinds of fun with these & they made for great pics!!

After Easter basket fun, we all got ready & headed off to church! I was hoping to get pics of the boys before church in their Easter outfits, but since we can't seem to get a break from the rain...that was out of the question!!

After a powerful message at church & awesome worship, we headed to my Grandma Elsie's for dinner & had a special visit from the Easter Bunny!!

It was insane the amount of gifts they got!!!

One thing is for sure...my kids aren't lacking in the LOVE department!! They are so blessed to have so many people who love & care for them!!

Spent some time out in the yard this afternoon soaking up some sun & capturing the smiles of some pretty cute kids...

And Parker couldn't be happier that mowing season is back in full effect...

It was like Christmas morning all over again!!

These are just some pics of Griffin that I took one afternoon. I thought they turned out pretty cute and I thought I would share. He was sitting in the kitchen floor watching me unload the dishwasher & I had given him a pot & a spoon to play with. Parker counts to 10 in Spanish

Okay....so now that we have figured out that we can upload our videos from our phones to youtube we are going to be posting videos more often! Here is a video I took tonight of Parker counting to 10 in Spanish.

Its something that he has been learning in school.

I went for his parent/teacher conference last Friday & the teacher told me that he wasn't counting to 10 yet with the class...I said..."Hmmm that's funny because at home he counts to 10 in English & Spanish. She couldn't believe it! Apparently, he is more interested in other activities while the class is counting...

Oh well...looks like he is still picking it up!

I am…a follower of Christ, a wife, a mother, a daughter, a sister, & friend.

I want…a sewing machine…I am going to learn how to sew if it kills me!

I have…an addiction to potato chips & fountain sodas.

I wish…that I didn’t!

I hate…laundry! It has to be the one household chore I despise the most! It NEVER ENDS!!!

I fear…mice!! Seriously, absolutely….TERRIFIFIED!!!

I hear…the word “mommy” at least 100 times a day.

I search…to find time for myself!

I wonder…what my life will be like in the future…who my children will grow up to be… & what their spouses will be like.

I regret…not being able to stay home with Parker when he was a baby.

I love…Jesus, my husband, my children, & my family.

I ache…for women who are unable to conceive & experience the miracle of pregnancy & childbirth.

I always…straighten up my throw pillows on my couch before I go to bed, before I leave the house, & repeatedly throughout the day.

I usually…spend way to much time making sure that my house looks perfect at all times! I really need to let it go!

I am not…as patient as I should be.

I dance…not nearly as often as I used to!

I sing…in the car, in the shower, & while cleaning house.

I never…have enough time in the day to accomplish all that I want to get done!

I sometimes…wish life wasn't so busy! I feel like time flies by so fast & my children lives are flashing before my eyes!

I cry…every Sunday watching the Secret Millionaire.

I am not always…the wife & mommy that I want to be...I think we all have those days...

I lose…my keys all the time!!

I am grateful…that God has given my husband a career which provides for our family so that I am able to stay home with our 2 boys everyday.

I need…to spend less time on the computer & social media.

I should…eat less & exercise more!

So I know that I am super behind...Griffin actually turned 7 months old on March 19th....

yeah...just a little behind (total mommy blogger fail!)

However, I did take these pics of him on March 17th for this post...

I had good intentions!!

Some of them turned out really cute...

Still trying to master this camera!!

So as you can see, my little man is sitting up...

He mastered that just a couple days after I made his 6 month post!

In the last week, he has started crawling like a mad man!! He is literally all over the place!

His favorite thing is to crawl up to the entertainment center & play with the DVD player & cable box! He likes all of the lights & buttons, I guess!!

I woke up...

The sun was shining...

It was an absolute beautiful day!!

My neighbor's Daffodil's were calling my name....

"Tonya....come take pictures of us!!!!"

So I did!

And I took some pictures of my kiddos as well!

I think I am going to make some Easter cards with them !

I'm not usually a big yellow fan...

But these daffodils & forsythia in my neighbor's yard have me swooning today!

Okay...so I know these pictures are not of high quality...

they were taken with my cellphone, but you have to admit...

They are definitely worth posting!!

I took these in one of the shops in downtown Nashville while we were passing through on our way home from Disney! We decided to stop in Nashville for lunch & to do some shopping on our way home from Florida. We need to get out, stretch our legs, & just take a break from being in the van for what seemed to be FOREVER!!!

I had left my camera in the car, so I used the next best thing! Usually my camera phone takes really good pictures, but when your subject refuses to stand still it causes things to get a little blurred!

Parker was too busy dancing a little jig with his guitar! Lol!

My Baby is 6 Months Old!!

Can you believe it?

Six months have come & gone!!

This little boy is growing faster than ever!!

I know time flies, but with 2 boys...time is flying faster every day!!

The child will be celebrating his 1st birthday before I know it!

Griffin went for his 6 month well-check yesterday...

He is now 17lb 2oz & 26.75inches

He is eating 5 six ounce bottles daily.

He just started eating peas this week & is taking prety well to them!

He also has rice cereal at bedtime mixed with a little bananas.

He is wearing mostly 6-9 month clothing.

He is super strong...once this child gets on the move...

ITS OVER FOR MOMMY!!

I will have to watch his every move!!

He is gonna be ALL OVER THE PLACE!!

He is super close to sitting up, but hasn't quite mastered it yet!

He has had some free time the last two days & we have managed to do quite a bit! Parker is having a blast & Griffin has been a real trooper! The last 2 days have been busy & the boys have been exhausted!

It is so neat to watch them interacting! Griffin literally follows Parker's every move! Everytime his brother speaks...he smiles from ear to ear! Not that I want Griffin to grow up quick...but, I am really looking forward to watching them play together when Griffin gets a little bit bigger!

When moving Parker into his big boy room, we had to decide on a new theme for his room...

We decided to do sports since he loves playing ball so much. His bedroom has kind of a vintage feel to it, mostly decorated in football & baseball...To add to the look of his room I wanted to take some pics of him playing ball (baseball this time...football will be next!) in sepia tones to make the photos look old.

We again took advantage of this nice weather we are having & took him to the ball field. I snapped pics while him & daddy played...

I just love them!!

Since we had a little break in the weather, the sun decided to come out, & it was actually warm outside (for January) I thought we should go outside and take advantage....

And maybe, just maybe Parker might let me take a few photos...

To my surprise...he actually enjoyed me taking his picture! Probably because I turned it into a game :)

Griffin is 5 Months Old!!

Its hard for me to believe that Griffin is 5 months old already!

Next thing you know he will be 6 months and then I look back at how fast those 6 months flew by...and I will know that his 1st birthday is just around the corner! So not fair how fast they grow up! :(

We just got back from Mexico on Monday & when I went to hold him after being away for 4 days...

I would have sworn he had gotten bigger!

Why does it always seem that way!?!

Everytime I am away from my kids for a couple of days,

I feel like they have

changed in some way, shape, or form since I left them!

It's C.R.A.Z.Y.

Not only does he continue to get bigger, but if its possible, I think he might be getting cuter too! :)

(I know, I know...I'm his mom...I am supposed to think he is cute!)

I know I post a lot of pics of this boy with no clothes on or in the bath tub, but come to think of it...

I think that is when he is the happiest!!

And naked babies always make for a good photo op!

I snapped these pics the other day while I was giving him a bath in the kitchen sink! The first 2 pics, his hair is all soaped up & matted...the 3rd shows off his wild & crazy hair!

At 5 months, Griffin is very active & very strong! He rolls over constantly & even lately has been trying to crawl...seriously think the crawling thing is not far off! He constantly chews on his fingers/fists/toys or whatever is nearby, he also drools A LOT!! Kinda think he maybe trying to cut some teeth! We'll see!! (You know I will post pics of that milestone as soon as it happens!) He has in the last month also discover his feet and likes to lay on his back & play with them!

He reaching out & grabs for toys and is a pleasant baby most of the day! It seems like every evening around 6pm he turns into a grump butt & throws a temper tantrum, but this is considered an improvement to think that this used to happen once between every feeding! He is eating 6 oz of formula at a time and does eat rice cereal in the evenings! He is also starting to show an interest in what everyone else is eating & drinking lately! He is constantly trying to go after my diet coke can or my coffee in the morning! He is weighing in around 16 pounds and wearing mostly 6 month clothing.

He did have his physical therapy evaluation on his neck & the therapist didn't seem too concerned. She thinks he has just a very mild case of torticollis and is only showing about a 10% delay in his development as a result of it. They have to have a delay of 30% or more to qualify for in-home therapy, therefore, looks like mommy & daddy will just be doing some stretching exercises with this boy at home to straighten out his neck!

But I wanted to show you how he is holding his own bottle now!

Parker's First Time on Roller Skates

Last weekend Parker had his first experience with roller skates! He had a birthday party to attend at the new Hot Wheels Skatium! His friend Brandon from church was turning 5 yrs. old & was

having a skating party to celebrate!

This is the first roller skating rink in our area since I was a little girl! Going to this place was like a blast from the past for me! It was also my first time on roller skates in a very long time...

I'm talking probably 20 years!!!

What is great about this place.... they can tighten the wheels on the roller
skates so the kids can't go fast & therefore, they won't fall down!
What a FABULOUS IDEA!!!
Why or why didn't they have this when I was younger?!?

Instead of skating...Parker did a lot of this in the middle of the floor. He would pretend like he fell down so that I certain little girl would keep coming back to help him up! Everytime I tried to help him up, he wouldn't get up. He would point to the other little girl and tell me he was waiting for her!
Lol! Boyfriend is 3 years old and already has it figured out!
UNBELIEVABLE!

Two weeks from this Friday.....

I will be laying by this pool....

I will be admiring this gorgeous view...

I will be eating in this restaurant....

I will be sleeping in this bed...

We will be going on an ALL EXPENSE PAID vacation to Cancun, Mexico courtesy of Bobby's boss......

The only thing we had to pay for was our passports & just found out today, that they are in the mail on the way to our home now!!

Bobby reached a company goal for the month of December...the incentive was this trip!

Pretty good incentive, huh?

We will be going with 6 other couples from Northwestern Mutual and will be staying at the beautiful Royale Cancun for 3 nights! So proud of my hubby for all of his hard work! First, making me a stay-at-home mommy, now this?!? I am really starting to like this company!

So excited to get away for a few days, but going to miss my boys terribly! :(

I am sure they won't even know I am gone....

They will be too busy getting spoiled ROTTEN by their maw-maw & paw-paw :)

My 30th Birthday

So we actually were gonna do something fun to celebrate my 30th birthday, but unfortunatelty things didn't go the way we had planned...

My birthday fell on Monday this year, so we were just going to celebrate the weekend before. Earlier that week on Wednesday, Parker came down with the stomach flu (I know, I know, boyfriend has had one illness after another...gotta love pre-K!) Bobby & I were supposed to be leaving on Friday to go to Nashville, TN to celebrate my birthday. We were going to spend the night there, go out to dinner, go out downtown, & do some Christmas shopping on Saturday. Friday morning I woke up feeling horrible (think I had a touch of Parker's stomach flu) and Parker still wasn't 100%, so our little trip got cancelled :(

Cue Plan B....

The next set of plans just involved us all going over to my parents house for dinner, cake & ice cream on Monday night. My mom was making my great grandma's recipe for homemade spaghetti sauce...its to die for and I was really looking forward to going over there & just spending time with some of my favorite people.

Monday morning, my mom called me and told me that she now had the stomach flu and didn't think that she would be able to have everyone over :( Good news was, she had already made the spaghetti sauce & garlic bread! So, my dad brought it over that morning & we had it for lunch instead.

So as you can see, my birthday wasn't going quite as I had planned...

Cue Plan C

We went to dinner as a family to Chili's in Carbondale!

I know, not super exciting for a 30th birthday celebration, but what were we supposed to do! Had no idea there was going to be a stomach flu epidemic! We were able to eat dinner with Bobby's sister, Chrissy & her husband James before they left to go back to Texas, so that was nice at least!

So here is our family pic from that night!

Thanks to picnik, I was able to do some editing to this pic! For a small fee, you can upgrade your account & have access to some touch-up options. They have everything from make-up, to teeth whitening, air brushing to wrinkle removal (helped to make me look not quite as old, LOL!)

I just love this little owl hat she got for Griffin......sooo cute! Parker got a bear hat, it is also ADORABLE, but I have yet to get a picture of him in it! Since he has been sick, he has been a little less than cooperative! As soon as I can manage to get a shot of him with it on, I will be sure to post it!

Today is my cousin Keri's 26th birthday and she has been waiting PATIENTLY for this day!

Her boyfriend of 8 years, Casey Bloodworth, finally popped the question! We all went out for dinner tonight to celebrate Keri's birthday and their engagement!

Tentatively, a June 25th wedding is planned!

Griffin is 4 Months Old

So here I am trying to get some cute pics of my little one for his

4 month blog post. Maybe I waited until it was a bit too late....

I'm happy

I'm still pretty happy...

I'm getting annoyed...

"Mom...seriously, how many of those are you going to take?"

"That's it...I'm over it!"

Lol! This is how my little one works...happy one minute, mad at the world the next!

So the months just continue to fly by...Griffin is now 4 months old! And with that, he had to go back to see Dr. Korte last week for his 4 month well-check & his second set of immunizations. He weighed in at 14lb. 9oz. and was 26 inches long. Dr. Korte said he was looking great, but that she did have one concern....

His Neck!

We have noticed that Griffin tends to favor his right side, always wanting to turn his head that direction & also when trying to hold his head up, it always wants to tilt to the right. Dr. Korte noticed these symptoms while examing him in her office the day of his well-check. She said he has a mild case of torticollis. She said when a baby has torticollis, they display symptoms very much like Griffin's. The neck muscles are contracted and cause the neck to tilt to one side. She said that more than likely this was the way his head was positioned in the womb and he is just accustomed to holding it this way. Apparently, it is a fairly common problem seen in newborns...

Although he does favor his right side, he IS able to turn his head to the left. If you sit on his left side and talk to him, he will turn his head to look at you. He also follows sounds by looking either direction. In some severe cases, babies with torticollis are not able to do this. Due to the fact that they favor one side over the other, it can also affect the shape of their head. In some cases, the baby will have to wear a MOLDING HELMET to insure that the head forms properly. Upon examing Griffin's head, Dr. Korte said that the shape is looking just fine....THANK GOD!

I'm not gonna lie...the idea of him having to wear a molding helmet ~~kinda~~ definitely freaked me out! I was relieved when she said that his head was looking good! Fingers crossed it stays that way!

So how do we fix it? Dr. Korte said that this condition is very much treatable with physical therapy. Her office is supposed to be setting up a physical therapy consult for him & calling us to schedule it. She said that our insurance may pay for him to have therapy for up to 6 weeks, but in a lot of cases the therapist will just come to our home, show us some daily stretching exercises to do with Griffin on our own, and then come back a few weeks later to see how he is doing.

I will keep you up-to-date on how things are going with this & when he starts therapy! Just so thankful that its a problem that can be easily fixed!

Christmas 2010

     Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! We had a wonderful Christmas this year in the Diehl house! This was the first year I think Parker really understood the whole Santa concept, but unfortunately he spiked a fever Christmas Eve night which contributed to a little lack of excitement on his part... :( All in all, he still had a great Christmas, and he got everything he asked for & more (imagine that!) Along with his fever, he has had just your typical cold symptoms, which seem to be improving (fingers crossed), so I think he is on the mend!
     Griffin remained healthy despite the fact that he had is four month well-check (more to come on this later) 2 days before & got his second set of immunizations. He was quite cranky the first 24 hours after his appointment, but by Christmas Eve he was a happy little boy!
     To top off our wonderful holiday we woke up to snow Christmas Eve morning which made for a beautiful White Christmas! I wanted to share with you some pictures of our Christmas festivities ....

Momma's got a brand new toy!!!

So my 30th birthday is this coming Monday, and my awesome hubby got me the BEST GIFT EVER!!!! And it just so happened to arrive a few days early...and because he is so awesome, he let me have a few days early!!!

He got me the Canon Rebel T1I camera WITH the extra lens!!! Now I can take FABULOUS pictures of my boys to share with all of you!!!!

Of course when it showed up this afternoon, I had to get the battery charged up and had to start taking pics ASAP!!! I decided to take some pics of the boys (naturally) and some of my christmas decor as well.....

Really can't get over the difference in picture quality...its so much clearer! Having a snack while watching a movie....

Christmas Tree in our Living RoomI really love this tree, its big, full, & just beautiful when decorated... I decorate with colors which coordinate with my living room decor...That means, blue, chocolate brown, & cream...I also have some gold accents throughout for a little sparkle....

I decided to tackle this project after seeing Thrifty Decor Chick's version on her site. Check out the link above to see her gorgeous Christmas Vignette. The glass globes in the picture were collected from home, goodwill, & one was purchased @ hobby lobby for $5. All of the ornaments in the glass containers and throughout the display were purchased at Walmart. The bare spaces were then filled in with greenery, pine cones, & tea light candles. I really love the way it turned out!

Griffin is 3 Months Old

Griffin is now 3 months old! My how the months just keep flying by! We decided to have a little photo shoot today in honor of him turning 3 months old, I took some in color & some in black & white. They all turned out so cute, I had to post a little of both! If you catch him at just the right time, you can get smiles galore out of this boy! But you have to seize the opportunity when it presents itself, because at a moments notice his evil twin may make an appearance! LOL!

Seriously, I am beginning to wonder if this kid has split personalities! He can literally go from smiles like you see above, to screaming at the top of his lungs in less than 20 seconds with no warning! Ask anyone in our family....

I.AM.NOT.KIDDING!

Despite the evil twin, I am still madly in love with this little boy! He is a total doll baby! When he has a full belly and has had a good nap, he smiles & coos like crazy! And as you can see from the videos I have posted, he laughs A LOT! I am not quite sure as to how big he is at the present time, as he has not had a doctor's appt in over a month, but if I had to guess, I would think he would be topping the scales somewhere around 13 pounds. He is eating 4-5 ounces every 3 hours and sleeping all night now! Yay!

Momma is LOVING her some good solid sleep! :)

My Sick Little Turkey

This is how Parker spent his Thanksgiving! :( My poor baby has been sick! He started running a fever Tuesday night & after 2 days and a couple episodes of vomiting Thanksgiving morning, we ended up in the ER!

We left the house at 7:00am, hoping that we could get in & out before things got to busy at the hospital. When we arrived we were the only ones there.....Praise God! We sat for less than 5 minutes before getting called back to the exam room.

After a negative strep test, flu test, & chest x-ray, the doctor decided that Parker probably just had a virus, but since he did complain of right ear pain while we were there & because he had been running 103-104 degree fever consistently for 2 days, we did leave with an antibiotic!

He seems to be feeling a little better today, and after a 5 hour nap this afternoon, I think he is on the road to recovery! Now I just pray that Griffin doesn't get it!

My Baby is Getting Big!

Doesn't seem possible that Griffin should be this big ALREADY! He isn't looking like a newborn anymore, instead he is looking more like a toddler! Mommy is sad......REALLY sad! :(

These pics were taken just a few days ago when we were getting ready for his bath, he is always so happy during bath time! I think its because he likes being naked :)

That smile just makes me melt!

These pictures were taken today as I was putting up our Christmas tree (yes, I know we haven't even had Thanksgiving yet, but I am all about getting it up early & enjoying it!) He was just watching every move I made while putting the tree up....like he was really interested in what I was doing! And every time I stopped what I was doing & looked at him, this is what I would get in return................a BIG CUTE SMILE!

And I got yet another video of him laughing...this one with better lighting! :) I got him giggling this time by playing with his feet....they are quite tickilish (not sure how you spell that!) And if you can't see what his shirt says, it reads "Big Deal, just like my dad." His Aunt Cortney got it for him, and it is quite appropriate with our last name :) Thanks Aunt Cee-Cee!

My Laughing Baby Boy!

So for the last 4 weeks or so, I have been able to get an occasional giggle out of Griffin, but tonight...I found something that cracks that boy up....his blue puppy...& his silly mom! Halloween 2010

My little Spiderman!Trick or TreatingHanding out candy to the trick or treaters!

Parker handing out candy at home....this by far was the highlight of my evening! I don't think he had ever had so much fun in his life! For those of you who don't know...our neighborhood is serious about Halloween! The neighbors go all out decorating their yards! I swear between the 3 houses that do all the decorating...they must own every inflatable Halloween decoration ever made! It is seriously CRAZY!!! And because it is one of the nicer neighborhood's in Murphysboro, we get SLAMMEd with trick or treaters! So this year, after we did some trick or treating of our own, we decided to go home and let Parker pass out candy at our house! He had an absolute blast! He was luring them in from the streets! It was HILARIOUS! I had to take a video......

He was yelling at the kids "Mere....I got treats!".....LOL! This will definitely be a new tradition at our house for Halloween! I swear the child had more fun passing out candy then he did going door to door getting candy for himself! In fact, at one point we ran out of candy and he decided to give the candy away he had in his own treat bag just so he could hand out candy to the kids!

This was kinda an uneventful Halloween for Griffin, but we decided to get him in the Halloween spirit, with a little "Baby MD" costume onsie that his Aunt Chrissy got him in Texas! I think he looked quite handsome! Mommy's very own "McDreamy" :)

My Little Lovebug is 2 months old! Can you believe it? I can't! Seems like time is flying (like always) and with 2 kids, seems like it is flying by faster all the time!
Griffin went for his 2 month well check with Dr. Korte last Friday, he weighed in at 11lb 11oz and was 23 inches long! He also got his first set of immunizations....Uggh! He of course, balled his eyes out, but Mommy stayed strong and did better than expected. I guess after the first child, the immunization thing gets a little easier! The first 24 hours after the shots was a little rough, he was quite fussy and ran just a low grade temp....nothing that a little Tylenol couldn't fix! :)
As you can see by the above pictures, he is quite the happy little baby, but don't let the pics fool you....he can also be quite the angry little baby as well! What can I say...when he is happy, he is happy and when he is mad, he is MAD!!!! Thank goodness the mad thing only seems to occur when he is hungry or tired (and occasionally after a poopy!)
He coos like crazy and "talks" a lot when he is happy (aka...has a full belly!) I could sit and talk to him forever...it is absolutely adorable! He also giggles every now and then which is super.... ADORABLE!
Needless to say I am enjoying my time home with the boys....so much so, that I decided that this is what I should be doing all the time! Thats right, I am finally going to be a STAY AT HOME MOMMY! I called my boss a week and a half ago and told her that I wouldn't be coming back to work in November as originally planned! After many long conversations with Bobby and much deliberating on my part, I made the decision! We decided that financially we are in a position to where we don't necessarily need my income anymore and the boys are only going to be little once! Therefore, I am going to take advantage of this opportunity while I can! A big THANK YOU to my husband for all of his hard work in making my dream come true & to GOD for making all of this possible! I am such a lucky girl! :)

Parker's First Field Trip!

Parker went on his first field trip with his pre-k class, and because I am still off work on maternity leave, I was able to go too! It was a lot of fun & very informative for the kids...and moms too! We started off the field trip watching a Sesame Street video about fires, firefighters, and the fire station. After the video, the kids got to see a real life firefighter dressed up in all his gear! They wanted the kids to see the firefighter all dressed up so that they could see what they look like and if there is ever a fire, they won't be afraid to go to the firefighter for help. I'm not sure this worked for Parker though, he was still pretty freaked out by the get up & refused to shake the firefighter's hand!

They taught the kids about the firefighters gear and how it protects him from fire.

They showed the kids how the firefighters breathe using an oxygen tank which they carry on their backs....

They taught the kids about stop, drop, & roll and then asked for volunteers. Of course, Parker was all about it! Anything to get up out of his seat for a few minutes! lol!

They were taught to cover their faces while rolling.

After the video and discussion, the kids got to go outside and see the fire trucks....

And the cool pole that the firefighters slide down when they get called out for a fire...

All the kids got a chance to get up inside the fire truck for a picture (I'm hoping his teacher got a better one than I did!)

They also all got an opportunity to spray the water hose! How cool is that! I'm not gonna lie, I kinda wanted to spray it myself! :)

Parker was totally into this!

And how could you not be, when you got to spray the firefighter who was standing across the street!

But I think his favorite part of the whole field trip was getting to ride the bus to and from the fire station! Its the simple things that kids get the biggest kick out of!

And I had to get a picture of him with his field trip souvenirs...a fire helmet & an official firefighter badge! Too cute!

Hard to get a good pic of everyone....trying to get a 3 year old and a newborn to look at the camera & smile at the same time is almost impossible, but I did manage to get a couple good shots! Griffin Thomas 1 month old

Parker Anthony 1 month old I wanted to post a picture of Griffin at 4 weeks old and also post a picture of Parker at 4 weeks old for comparison for those of you who are trying to decide...."Does he look like Parker?" I think there are similarities between the two of them, especially in the eyes & nose. The obvious difference of course being THE HAIR!!!

Griffin is a good baby, much like his brother was. He only cries when he is hungry or tired, but unlike Parker, his cry is more like a scream where as Parker always just kinda whimpered.
When his belly is full & he has had plenty of sleep, he is usually full of smiles, he also coos a lot! He has already had his first cold (compliments of his brother) which consisted of a cough & low grade fever, kinda scary with him only being a month old, but he recuperated quickly! At the time of his doctor's appt. for his cold (at which time he was 6 weeks old) he weighed in at 9lb 60z! He is definitely growing fast, gaining 2 pounds in just a month and a half! We love having Griffin here, he has been a wonderful addition to our family and now with 2 boys keeping us busy, our family feels more complete! I will continue to keep you updated with pictures! Stay tuned!

Here are some pics from the SIU Home Opening Game at the new football stadium. The Dawgs took on Quincy and won 70-7! It was a fun game & was really cool to see the new stadium and all the work they have put into it. It turned out awesome! The boys had a great time & so did we! Griffin was bright eyed for the whole game, I think he enjoyed looking at all the lights!

Parker's First Day of Pre-K

Parker got into Pre-K this year! Yay! So excited about this opportunity for him! Not only does it give him a chance to meet & interact with other kids, but it will also give him a headstart when it comes time to start kindergarten in a couple of years! He will also continue his speech therapy thru the school district as well ,which is great because he has made great improvements in that area since starting therapy almost a year ago! He is going to Carruthers Elementary School. It is super convenient for us because it is literally less than 2 minutes up the road from our house! These pictures were taken on the day of his open house, which was the Friday before school started. I gave the kids an opportunity to see their classrooms and meet their teachers & fellow students. It also gave crazy moms like me an opportunity for a photo shoot....lol!

Here are pics from his first day of school! Was so happy to get a good smile out of him! He is at that stage where he wants to do that goofy smile with the squinted eyes....lol! Can't believe how big he looks with his little backpack on! Its official,......my baby isn't a baby anymore! :(

Griffin's 1st Bath at Home!

Griffin's first bath at home only consisted of a sponge bath at this point, because we have to wait for his umbilical cord & his plastibell from his circumcision to fall off. He did not enjoy the bath so much, I am figuring out, that this little boy doesn't like anything which involves taking off his clothes, diaper, etc. He just wants to be left alone & likes to be warm & cozy.....can you really blame him?

Love these pics with the pacifier, the thing is almost as big as his whole face! And we got some good shots of his hairdo! Loving all of this hair, just hoping it doesn't all fall out!

Because of all the hair, I have no choice but to wash it under the faucet. He actually enjoys this part! As soon as I turn the water on, he quits crying! Its too funny! The rinsing part he loves, the washing part, not so much...... hints the picture below!
